FAQS

Let’s take the pressure off.
It’s completely normal to have questions - especially if this is your first time considering therapy. Here are answers to some common questions to help ease your mind and guide you with clarity.

What types of therapy do you offer?

I offer trauma-informed therapy for adults. I have a specialization in interpersonal violence, sexualized violence, abuse and/or neglect in childhood, anxiety, self-worth and relationship challenges. For those who like the technical terms: I specialize in PTSD, ComplexPTSD and developmental trauma.

What can I expect from therapy with you?

My approach is deeply relational, collaborative and personalized to your needs. My work is grounded in feminist and anti-oppressive theories which means that you can expect that therapy with me is collaborative. I’ve been described as having down-to-earth and easy going kind of vibe. I like to share lots of information at the start of therapy (when welcome), to help people understand themselves and what might be going on for them. Your goals for counselling will really help us figure out what kind of strategies might be most helpful for you at this point in your life.

What can I expect in the first session?

The first session is about getting to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you in, your goal, and what therapy might look like for you. It’s a space where you’ll be heard, not rushed and you never have to share more than you’re ready to.

Do you offer online sessions?

Most extended health plans in Alberta include coverage for sessions with your Psychologist. I recommend checking with your provider directly to confirm your coverage. I am able to direct bill to Alberta Blue Cross and Canada Life.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes, I offer secure virtual sessions for clients across Alberta. Whether you’re in Edmonton or a rural community, you can access therapy from the comfort of your own space.

WHAT IF I AM STILL DECIDING IF I WANT THERAPY?

I offer no-fee, 15 minute, initial phone consultations. I invite you to set up a time for use to speak so you can ask me any questions you might have. An initial phone call can also help you get an idea of my personality and style so you can see if you might like to try working with me. A comfortable fit is important in counselling! Take your time. There is no need to rush this decision.
