I am a Registered Psychologist in Alberta and I’ve been working in mental health related fields since 2006. I provide therapy services for adults who are struggling with issues related to trauma, sexual abuse/assault, difficult childhoods, anxiety, depression, self-esteem and self-compassion. My therapeutic work is grounded in feminist theory and I use mindfulness based strategies, body (somatic) focused strategies, and cognitive behavioural (CBT) based strategies depending on what I think will be most helpful for each individual person.

Welcome -

Hi, I’m Erin - Registered Psychologist and founder of Roots + Juniper Psychology. I’m here to offer more than just therapy. I’m here to offer a space that feels grounded, safe and deeply personalized.

I am passionate about issues related to sexualized violence and about making change in the world related to this. I love working with people who have had tough childhoods and figuring out how to help adult life feel better. I believe in collaborative work and relationship focused counselling. I value diversity. I am a white, cis-gender woman with European ancestry. I’m LGBTIQQ+ aware and supportive.

Some random things about myself I think are interesting:
- I spent a year working as a mentor counsellor on an organic farm on Vancouver Island. I supported men who were struggling with homelessness and/or addiction. My job was to work on the farm and provide support as needed. It is amazing the kinds of conversations that can come up when shovelling pig poop!
- I’ve been passionate about issues related to sexualized violence for a long time. I started volunteering at the UofA Sexual Assault Centre in 2002. I wanted to get some volunteer experience and I quickly developed a passion for sexualized violence advocacy and support. That position helped me land my first grown-up job – at the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton (SACE) in ~2006. I worked as a Public Educator, then Director of Volunteer Services, and then later, after taking some more school, as a Therapist.

When I’m not at work, I love to spend time outside – hiking, skiing, walking, climbing, camping. I like to get goofy with my kids and get my hands dirty pulling weeds in my garden.

Here's What I Believe

Therapy should be tailored to you.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to healing. I take a deeply personalized approach that respects your pace, your needs, and your unique journey. Together, we’ll create a path that feels safe, supportive and aligned with who you are.

Your story matters.

What you’ve lived through, what you carry and who you are becoming all deserve space and compassion. Your experiences are valid, and your voice will always be honored here and every part of you is welcome.

Healing begins with safety.

You deserve to feel seen, respected, and safe in your therapeutic space. When trust is present, deeper healing can happen, because you no longer have to carry your story alone.

Everyone is capable of healing and growth.

Even in the aftermath of deep pain, I believe we all hold the capacity to reconnect with our sense of self. Healing might look different for everyone, but the potential is always there and therapy is a space where that growth can begin.

Junipers are hardy, resilient shrubs that grow where little else can. They’re strong, persistent and beautifully unflashy. You might overlook them at first, but once you learn more, you realize how special they are. That’s how I see many of the people I work with: quiet strength that deserves to be recognized.

Roots are what anchor us. When life’s storms rage above ground, strong roots help us stay connected to who we are. And if you didn’t get the chance to build those roots as a child, therapy is a place where you can start. We can grow new ones, deepen existing ones or let go of those that no longer serve you.

The name Roots + Juniper wasn’t chosen lightly - it holds deep meaning for how I view the therapy process.
